With their win over San Antonio on Sunday, the Minnesota Lynx clinched the franchise's first Western Conference regular season title. The win secures home court advantage through the Western Conference Playoffs and improves the Lynx' league-best record to 23-6, putting them 3.5 games up on Indiana (19-9) for home court advantage through the entire 2011 WNBA Playoffs.

Ugandan Little League, denied U.S. visas, to be replaced by Saudis

With the ouster of the Ugandan Little League from the Little League World Series, World series officials have announced the place will be filled by the team from Saudi Arabia.

The Ugandan children were denied visas to play in the U.S. after the U.S. State Department said there were discrepancies in players’ ages and birth dates, “making some players appear younger than they actually were.”

And they’ve been a hot topic this season, particularly after one Sunday’s game between the Tigers and Angels, when Erick Aybar bunted in an attempt to break up Justin Verlander’s no-hit bid in the eighth inning of a three-run game.

In that same game, Carlos Guillen homered off Jered Weaver, flipped the bat and stared down the Angels hurler nearly the entire way to first base.

The Minnesota Black Chamber of Commerce First Annual Golf Tournament Friday, July 29th at Heritage Links in Lakeville, MN supports the chamber’s College Scholars Fund. The Fund, launched in 2009, works to close the post-secondary completion gap and make young people a centerpiece of the community’s priorities.

The college scholars program includes employment/internship opportunities, scholarships, and mentoring. “We appeal to you to support the development of our College Scholars Program by joining us at our 1st annual golf tournament,” said Lea Hargett, president of MBCC. “Many of our young business leaders will be present, sharing their talents, and leading the festivities. Fantasy football outlook: Believe in Mark Ingram

If you scamper around the web, many online rankings and mock draft results will have Mark Ingram falling to around a seventh-round selection, or ranked in the 25 – 30 range for running backs.

It seems many experts and fantasy owners are still scared to draft a Saints running back because of all the rotational use over the past few years with Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush and others. This is understandable as many fantasy owners have been let down by Bush’s disappointing career and Thomas’s constant health issues.

While Ingram has to prove he can stay on the field, at the pro level, he seemed to have no problems with durability at Alabama, outside of his hamstring injury that cost him a couple of games to start last season.
