Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar released the following statement on the Senate confirmation of B. Todd Jones as U.S. Attorney for Minnesota.  In March, Klobuchar recommended Jones for the position.  Jones is one of only five new U.S. Attorneys confirmed by the Senate this Congress.

“Minnesota has a long tradition of outstanding U.S. Attorneys. Today, Todd Jones again joins this proud tradition.  I want to thank Acting U.S. Attorney Frank Magill for his service and for guiding the office through a difficult time.

“I know Todd will hit the ground running.  He’s a seasoned, highly-respected attorney who is fair-minded and has impeccable integrity.  He has a strong record of working productively with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

“Todd understands that the role of a prosecutor is to enforce the laws without fear or favor – he’s done this before, and I know he will do it again.  Above all, Todd is committed to seeing that justice is done under the law and for the people of Minnesota.”

The U.S. Attorney is the chief federal law enforcement official in the state, responsible for the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the federal government as well as the prosecution and defense of civil cases involving the federal government

Jones also served as the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota from May 1998 to January 2001.
