“Securing an additional $20 million in federal funds is a significant demonstration of congressional commitment to this crucial light rail connection between the Twin Cities. This federal earmark was requested by the Metropolitan Council chairman on behalf of Governor Pawlenty. The governor and Met Council chairman now have the responsibility to fulfill their funding commitments and work with the Federal Transit Administration to ensure that the Central Corridor is designed, built and opened on time and on budget,” said Congresswoman McCollum.
Funding for the Central Corridor is included in a $410 billion appropriations bill that funds mostly domestic discretionary investments for fiscal year 2009.
Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-4) serves on the House Appropriations & Budget Committees.
