African American Caucus announces 2014 Secretary of State Endorsement

The African American Caucus met on Thursday, May 23rd to vet 2014 candidates for endorsement. In addition to pre- answering a series of questions pertaining to issues in Minnesota's African American Community; members were interviewed in person. A 60% vote, with a quorum, was required for an endorsement.

Two endorsements were contested; the office of Secretary of State and the District 65A State Representative office. Hilstrom received support for her commitment to "re-enfranchisement of Minnesotans, outreach to all Minnesotans for state commissions and state jobs" and her commitment to on "day 1" expand voting access by making voting registration available in multiple languages. Margolis received an endorsement for his continued outreach to all communities in Minnesota.

Margolis also showed a strong command of key issues in this upcoming election.
