Motivational Moments: Finding your true calling

Motivational Moments: Finding your true callingAre you living your true passion? Do you work a job that you feel you were called to do? Not many of us are able to say that we are living a life filled with all the amazing things we thought we would be doing. I remember when I was young how I flipped through all types of careers that I thought I wanted to have. I once wanted to be a fashion designer, and after that I thought I wanted to be a teacher, then a nurse. Finally, I found my true calling!

A community's response to homelessness

A community's response to homelessnessEach night, approximately 9,000 individuals in Minnesota experience homelessness. Of the 9,000 individuals who experience homelessness each night, about 7,000 are "fortunate" enough to receive shelter from a variety of homeless service providers across the state, according to a number of quarterly shelter surveys conducted by the Department of Human Services over the past few years. Worse yet, neither of these numbers include the hundreds of individuals who spend the night in a place not meant for human habitation, such as under a bridge or in a car. Children and unaccompanied youth regularly account for nearly half of those sheltered and turned away.

I want you to give "Thanks" for all of the wonderful things you have been blessed with. Think about all of the life lessons that you've learned along the way and how amazing your journey has been thus far. I am not saying that your road was easy, but look at where you are now and where you used to be.

Motivational Moments: What do you need to live stress free?

Motivational Moments: What do you need to live stress free?Do you ever think about how you would feel if you could spend most of your time doing things that make you feel good about yourself? I often think about all the things I have to do during the course of the day and what little time I have to do them. However, I never find myself thinking about what I could do during my long day that would help me to release some stress. Yes there is reward in completing goals and accomplishing your daily task, but I am talking about taking the time out to reflect on what it is you need to live stress free.

Smile, you are altogether beautiful!

Smile, you are altogether beautiful! We have all heard the saying "Beauty is more than skin deep," and it is true. What we see on the outside must also be reflected on the inside for it to be true beauty. Modesty, humility, compassion, and consideration must be inwardly present as well. A pretty face and an ugly soul are not attractive. This is partial beauty at best. To be all together beautiful, you must possess inner and outer beauty.
