MDH report finds more than half of third-graders have cavitiesMinnesota's first comprehensive oral health plan includes new information that while tooth decay is nearly 100 percent preventable, it is still one of Minnesota's most common chronic childhood diseases, with 55 percent of third graders surveyed in 2010 experiencing tooth decay. This compares to the national rate of 53 percent for children six to eight years old.

Kathy Sheran (DFL – Mankato), takes advantage of a key component of the federal Affordable Care Act, which allows states to expand Medical Assistance (MA) eligibility.

Sweet 'tea' is not a better choice

When discussing food choices, one of the first questions I often ask is "What do you drink?". One of the more common answers that I have been getting lately is that people are drinking a lot of 'tea'. Often the tea that is being referred to is a sweetened (or sometimes sugar-free) bottled beverage. Many people will often drink several cups or bottles of 'tea' per day. Often, they tell me that they are drinking tea because they see it as a healthier alternative to soda. This week we talk about tea, and some of the beverages out there that pass for tea and provide some information about what is known about tea and its health benefits.

(NASDAQ:BONT) raised more than $100,000 for its breast cancer charity partners through its annual Charge Against Breast Cancer™ and October Pink Shops in 2012. Its beneficiaries—Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa; Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation; Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota; and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation—have benefitted from Bon-Ton's support since1998.
