Phyllis Wheatley celebrates 85th anniversary

Phyllis Wheatley Community Center marked its 85th Anniversary with a celebration on Friday, October 23 at Augsburg College’s Christensen Center in Minneapolis. Honorary co-hosts Sharon Sayles-Belton, Al McFarlane, Don and Sondra Samuels, Mary Merrill-Anderson, Art Rolnick, Annie Young, Harry Davis, Jr., Phyllis Wheatley Board Members and Senior Alumni were all present to celebrate the organization’s legacy of service to children and families in the community.
The evening included live music by SLI’JE and event sponsors included Insight News and Fredrikson & Byron, PA.

Hennepin County has partnered with 80 reuse retailers to offer Choose to Reuse Today coupons that can be redeemed for discounts from Oct. 1 - Nov. 30. Pick up a coupon book at participating retail locations, Hennepin County Service Centers, Hennepin County libraries and all Three Rivers Park District locations. Energy meters available for check out at Hennepin County libraries

Fifty easy-to-use Power Check energy meters will soon be available to borrow at Hennepin County libraries. Beginning Oct. 1, requests may be placed for the energy meters either online or in person at any of 39 Hennepin County libraries. The meters may be picked up at 31 Hennepin County libraries. To reserve a Power Check energy meter online, visit www.hclib.org and search the catalog under “Power Check Energy Meter.” Power Check energy meters can be borrowed for three weeks only.
