Latino Midwest News wins national award

goldaward_latino_midwestThe National Association of Hispanic Publications presented the Jose Marti Publishing Gold Award to Latino Midwest News, Saint Paul, Minnesota, for “Outstanding Front Page Design” during the recent 25th Annual 2010 (NAHP) Convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Latino Midwest News submitted the 2009 Christmas Cover Page to participate in the contest under the category of Outstanding Front Page Design and circulation of under 30.000 copies.
Adolfo Rudy Cardona, founder and publisher of Latino Midwest News said, “I humbly accept this important national award we received from our peers, thanks to the selection committee". Rick Aguilar, CEO of Aguilar Productions stated that " Latino Midwest News has had a tradition of colorful and beautifully designed cover pages aimed at highlighting important dates, events and accomplishments of Hispanics in the Midwest, along with informative articles about Hispanics in leadership positions" . “I dedicate this award to all our contributors and readers who have paved the way to our 10 years of publication, this award is all about them, not us” Cardona concluded.

The NAHP convention hosts the largest annual gathering of Hispanic print media in the U.S. There were over 700 entries submitted in various categories from dailies, weeklies, bi-weeklies and monthlies. A panel of judges selected gold, silver and bronze awards for categories of ‘General Excellence,’ ‘Outstanding Sections,’ ‘Written Word,’ ‘Design,’ ‘Photos,’ ‘Cartoons and Marketing”.
