north-high-polars-team-picThe first round of the Minnesota State High School Football Tournament for North Community High School was a complete turnaround from last year's event.

In 2012, on the Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Field the Polars fell to defeat in a final score of 54 - 40. This past Tuesday (Oct. 22), the Polars, from the very opening of the game, dominated the Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Saints.

In the first quarter after taking over on the 15 yard line from a punt, Polar quarterback Tyler Johnson connected with receiver Teyon Thomas who ran the ball in from 50 yards out for the first of six touchdowns.

From that point on it was a continual repeat with the final score: North 44, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 7. The North High Polars now advance to the second round with visiting Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
