Obama for America

E-mail Print PDF

By Ken Lawrence

We are quickly approaching the Minnesota Caucuses. The choices are narrowing. I believe that we are seeing that, at least among Republicans, there is a frontrunner. Sen. McCain is a man who the public perceives as a man of integrity who is willing to work, even across party lines, to get things done for the American people. Among Democrats a front runner is not yet clear. I hope that as Minnesotans go to the polls they see that if we are to confront the future united as Americans then there is only one clear choice for President - Sen. Barack Obama. For those who read his first book and then his second he so clearly and succinctly articulates his history, how he derives his conclusions on issues, his mistakes, his ability to make wise judgments and his ability to listen to the average person and the CEO to come up with approaches to problems that are truly outside of the box. Sen. Obama's candidacy includes us in on what's going on. He's honest. He is a man of integrity. He imbues the hopes of all of us so that together we bring out our best for our collective future. He reminds me so much of John F. Kennedy. He will bring leadership for change that we desperately need at this time. We need change in who is included in the decision making mix. We need change from the top down manner that subjects people to policy to a bottom up perspective where each of us counts. We need change from the partisan wrangling that we have had to deal with for nearly 14 years since the Republican Contract with America (and it could arguably be seen as starting well before then) during the Clinton years. We can see party but ultimately we all need to see solutions-innovative solutions. We have that chance to bring a leader with all of these qualities to lead this great nation. This is the time for a change maker and true leader - Sen. Barack Obama.
