Manny Gonzalez, owner of Manny's Tortas in Midtown Global Market, said that the torta is the Mexican sandwich. He has mastered the art of sandwich making, building a repertoire of delicious torta creations, all evoking the memory of the culinary heaven he had known as a child in Mexico City, Mexico.

Internet food critics Renee and Steve at reneedandsteeve.com say that Gonzales has succeeded in importing "a slice of heaven" to Minneapolis, where he now owns and operates three Manny's Tortas restaurants.

Said Steve, "Manny's Tortas may very well make the best sandwiches in the Twin Cities." Besides Midtown Global Market, there is a Manny's Tortas in the Mercado Central just further east at 1515 E. Lake Street near Bloomington. The third restaurant is at 2700 East Lake Street, Minneapolis.
