student salon art-koy1Metropolitan State University Gordon Parks Gallery opens its next exhibit, Student Salon 2014, with a reception on Thursday, March 27, from 4:30 p.m. –7 p.m.

The Student Salon 2014 features multimedia works produced by Metropolitan State students enrolled in undergraduate programs. From apparel design to black and white photography, this exhibit surveys the diverse form and content explored in class and beyond. Visual artists include Michael Butz, Gloria Fritz, Samuel Forney, Andrea Paiz Leonardo, Kelsey Lindquist, Leah Peroni, Nicolas Rivers, Dionne Sims, Whittier Strong and Xia Yang. All the artists are located in the Twin Cities.

"This year's exhibition features work that was made by students taking coursework in Studio Arts and Intermedia Arts. Some of the students have developed arts-focused majors, while others have pursued minors. Whatever the inspiration or the medium, it is always a delight to see the formal presentation of a student's artistic endeavors that have culminated over years of study," said gallery director Erica Rasmussen.

The exhibit continues March 28 and runs through April 18. Gallery hours are Mondays –Thursdays, 11 a.m.–7 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m.– 4 p.m. The gallery is located in the Library and Learning Center, 645 East Seventh St., Saint Paul.
